About the Instructors/Admin
Ms. Benson is thrilled to be part of the RCEIM program! She has maintained a private teaching studio for over 25 years, and for the past 3 years has extended that teaching to orchestra classes in Douglas County. Watching young people making music has become one of the joys of her life! Ms. Benson grew up in Sandy, Utah, where she began taking Suzuki violin lessons at age 6. She went on to study music at Brigham Young University, where she holds a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy, and a Master's Degree in Violin Performance.
Ms. Benson has performed as a soloist, concertmaster and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe, and currently enjoys performing as the Assistant Concertmaster with the Lone Tree Symphony. Ms. Benson lives in Castle Pines with her husband and three children. Together, they enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, snow skiing, and Marvel movie marathons.
Mr. Dale is proud to be the Orchestra Director at Rock Canyon High School and is thrilled to be a part of the RCEIM program again this year!
Ms. Davidson is a veteran teacher with an expertise in beginning instrumental music instruction. She has been teaching for over 25 years in various combinations of subjects, always including beginning instrumental music instruction. Ms. Davidson started this program, originally in the Rock Canyon in 2009, in response to District budget cuts and in response to many people requesting that a band and orchestra program continue. Her program grew to include the Castle View and Chaparral feeder areas in 2010, won the Macaroni Kids Best Music Lessons Award in 2014, expanded to include the Ponderosa, Mountain Vista and ThunderRidge areas in 2016, and won the Macaroni Kids Best Music Lessons Award in 2016 and agin in 2019. She is excited to continue her collaboration with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra and to bring a quality program into the Rock Canyon feeder area again this year. Keeping the opportunity to play an instrument available to our kids is her top priority.
